To the Mamas and Papas Who Feel Indequate

Open Letter

By Shannon Williamson September 27, 2018

To the mom (or dad) who feels inadequate

I actually had the thought the other day that my daughter would be better off with another mom. Probably because I yelled at her, and then was beating myself up about yelling at her.

And so there I was, thinking about all the moms out there that have probably never raised their voice at their kids, and do crafts instead of let them watch TV, and actually play Monopoly with them (omg, that game is evil!), and have never put them in the tub just so you can get some free time. #ihopeimnottheonlyone

And I had all these thoughts while I was:

·cutting off the tops of her strawberries, and

·making waffles from scratch because she loves them and cutting them up into small pieces, and

·tying her hair up so she wouldn't get syrup in it, and

·spot-treating her favorite shirt so she could wear it that dayand

·listening to her sing to her dolls while she waited to eat and thinking how beautiful her voice is.

And isn't that the way of things? Us moms focus on all the things we did wrong that day but forget about the millions of things we did right.

Fierce, warrior mamas and papas: look at all you do for kids. You do A LOT! And so much of it is GOOD. Focus on that today and let the rest go. #somuchlove #newmercieseveryday
