Taming the Nightmares

DIY Solutions for Your Child's Nightmares

A curious solution for nightmares and night terrors

Because I’m oily (aka obsessed with figuring out a use for every single essential oil on the planet), my sister-in-law asked me what could be used for nightmares. Her daughter, my niece, has been struggling for awhile and she was at the end of her rope.

A curious blend of essential oils popped up in my research that many people have had success with. It is called Purification. Purification is a blend of citronella, rosemary, lemongrass, tea tree, lavender, and myrtle. While this blend is well-known to purify the air (instead of just mask smells), it is also amazing for nightmares and night terrors!

One friend has found success simply by diffusing this oil blend next to her child’s bed at bedtime. Another friend puts the oil on the bottom of her child’s big toe.

Why the big toe? Not to get into the weeds too much, but the bottom of the big toe is connected to the brain, which of course is where nightmares and night terrors occur. In fact, applying oils to the big toe is a fabulous way to bring grounding, calm, and focus to the brain. So, this made perfect sense to me.

Here is a detailed testimony of one mother who had great success: https://tinyurl.com/ybrcpnpw (www.oil-testimonials.com).

I know you’re thinking it’s crazy and I did too when a gentleman handed me a bottle of Thieves essential oil blend (hello, immune support) and told me to put it on my feet. My feet? I tried it once and felt crazy, so I threw it away. I THREW IT AWAY. I cringe every time I think of it, now that I know what I know.

Crazy or not, diffusing or applying Purification essential oil to the feet is a powerful, simple tool to support peaceful sleep and quiet minds. I strongly believe this should be in every household. #sweetdreams
