Whipped Body Butter

A Winter Time Salve for Your Skin

My Favorite DIY Whipped Body Butter

The cold weather is here which brings out the itchy, dry skin. I’m not one to put fragrance or chemicals on my skin if I can avoid it (and most lotions and creams are full of them!) so I decided to make my own. DIY personal care products are crazy affordable and it’s always a fun project to do with my daughter.

Enter my favorite whipped body butter recipe! I use this on my face and body as well as my cuticles and undereye cream. Super cheap, super versatile. That’s my kind of recipe!

Whipped Body Butter

Ingredients:

·¼ C Coconut oil

·¼ C Beeswax

·½ C Shea butter

·2 TBSP Vitamin E oil

·10 drops each Lavender, Frankincense and Copaiba essential oils*

Directions:

1.       Put coconut oil, beeswax, and shea butter in a glass bowl and then place the bowl in a sauce pan filled ¼ of the way with water.

2.       Heat stove to medium and mix ingredients together as they begin to melt.

3.       Once mixed, place in refrigerator for an hour until solid

4.       With a regular mixer or hand mixer, beat until whipped and fluffy.

5.       Add essential oils and Vitamin E to the mix. (reason is because we don't want to heat up the oils and reduce the therapeutic benefits!)

6.       Scoop into glass container (I like squat mason jars) and store in a cool place.

How to use:
Apply to face, body, heels, elbows, and hands liberally. I love this stuff!

*Note: Not all essential oils are created equal. It is CRITICAL that you use pure oils as most are adultered and filling with ingredients you do not want on your face or in your bloodstream. I highly recommend Young Living essential oils because of their ethical standards and commitment to beyond-organic purity.
