DIY Bath Bombs

I’ve been doing a lot of research on creating a safe home for my kids and the topic of bath bombs continues to come up. While super fun and entertaining, the ingredient lists of most bath bombs on the market are quite terrifying.

From hormone-disrupting chemicals, complex fragrances, and possible disease-triggering dyes infiltrating mucous membranes and seeping into the blood streams of your littles, the standard bath bomb is not something I’d ever use or gift to people I love.

Fortunately, there’s an easy solution. DIY bath bombs friends! So easy to make yourself and my daughter LOVES them (ok, so do I!). Whip up a batch for yourself and gift one for Christmas!

DIY Bath Bombs

Ingredients:

·8 oz. baking soda

·4 oz. citric acid

·4 oz. corn starch

·4 oz. Epsom salts

·3/4 tsp. water

·10-20 drops essential oils

·2 tsp. liquid carrier oil jojoba, coconut, almond, grapeseed, etc.

·Coloring if desired (try natural food dyes like beet, pomegranate or blueberry juice!)

·Plastic or silicone mold (https://tinyurl.com/ycczpwm2) or (https://tinyurl.com/yd69jokw) or use any shape you like, such as a silicone cupcake tray.

Directions:

1.       Combine everything EXCEPT the citric acid in a glass or metal bowl.

2.       When you’re sure it’s mixed well, add the citric acid and mix again. The mixture should still look dry, like breadcrumbs, and feel like soap flakes. It will hold together when you squeeze it.

3.       Pack the mix into your mold. If you’re using the metal molds, overfill one side before you snap the halves together.

4.       Twist the halves of the mold apart to remove your bath bomb. It should come out easily and hold the shape.

5.       Let your finished bath bomb dry for at least 24 hours before you use it. Enjoy!!
