National Night Out is an annual event focused on strengthening relationships between local law enforcement and the communities they serve. The initiative fosters neighborhood unity and promotes safety by encouraging positive interactions and building trust between residents and public safety officials.
Held annually on the first Tuesday in August, National Night Out draws millions of participants from across all 50 states, U.S. territories, and even military bases around the world. Communities celebrate with neighborhood block parties, parades, cookouts, and festivals that feature safety demonstrations, educational seminars, youth activities, visits from emergency responders, and more.
The Olympic Peninsula will join in the festivities with events in both Port Angeles and Ocean Shores!
1. Port Angeles Police Department – Community Night at Civic Field
The Port Angeles Police Department is hosting its National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, August 5, from 4:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Civic Field. The event invites local families to enjoy games, activities, and demonstrations, including a K-9 unit showcase. It's also a chance to connect with community organizations and meet local police and fire personnel. The evening wraps up with an outdoor screening of A Minecraft Movie. Don't forget to bring your lawn chairs or blankets! Food trucks will be available on-site.

2. Ocean Shores Police Association – Night Out at the Convention Center
Join the Ocean Shores Police Department on Tuesday, August 5, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. for a family-friendly evening in the Ocean Shores Convention Center parking lot. The event offers free food, live music, kids’ activities, and a chance to engage with local law enforcement in a fun and relaxed setting.
